Want to try your hand at the pottery wheel? This workshop is the perfect introduction to throwing for teens who want to get creative, learn a new skill, and make something completely their own.

In this hands-on 3-hour session, you’ll learn the basics of working with clay on the wheel, guided by Cáit in a relaxed and supportive studio environment. Whether it’s your first time using a pottery wheel or you’ve had a go before, you’ll build your confidence and learn the techniques needed to create your own handmade pots.

You’ll learn:

  • How to prepare and centre clay on the pottery wheel

  • The basics of pulling up and shaping your own forms

  • How to create and refine your own thrown pieces

  • Tips and techniques to help you get the best results from your clay

  • What happens after throwing, including drying, glazing and firing

Your handmade creations will be glazed and fired ready for collection a few weeks after the workshop.

Please note that all students are expected to thoroughly clean their wheels, tools and workstation after the session.
