Experimenting with Glaze Workshop

£110.00

Explore Colour, Texture & Surface

Sunday 16th August
10am – 4pm

Curious about what happens after your pots are made?
This workshop is all about exploring the exciting world of glaze, decoration and surface design.

Designed for people with some pottery experience, this hands-on session will help you understand the glazing process and experiment with different techniques, combinations and finishes. You’ll explore how glazes behave, how colours interact, and how small changes can transform the final look of your pieces.

This workshop is not about developing glaze recipes from scratch — instead, you’ll work with a selection of studio glazes and test your ideas through experimentation, helping you build confidence and a better understanding of the glazing process.

You’ll learn:

  • How glaze works and what happens during firing

  • Different glazing and decoration techniques

  • How to layer and combine glazes to create different effects

  • How to experiment with colour, texture and surface finishes

  • How to record and compare your glaze tests for future reference

Test tiles will be provided so you can explore different glaze combinations and create your own collection of samples to refer back to.

Your finished test tiles will be fired and ready to collect on a dedicated collection day, where we’ll meet for a coffee and a chat to look through everyone’s experiments, share results and discuss what worked (and what surprised us!).
